Chrysalis

After 14,863 miles of America over 148 days and nights, there are a lot of stories to be written and soon I will begin the labor.  For now, a beginning.

When one Google Earths Amarillo, there, in the northwest corner is a light mark on the landscape shaped like a butterfly. Mariposa is a dream of a community of pure ecological intention to re-generate a commecrially disturbed place on the high plains of the Texas Panhandle. The site was a well worked caliche pit and now is the site of a dream of  naturally built homes, a learning center, an enterprise zone and community gardens. The property owner has dedicated adjacent land to a Natural Preserve and is currently hosting sustainable learning programs at the Wildcat Nature Center!  This is a dream in Chrysalis. There will be progress and and reports on this wonderful project here on the Permaculture Playground, as well as reflections on the journey just completed.

Namaste

Birthday 2008

Today, of all days this year, I’m giving pause to remember what I came here for. The evolution of my decisions has me in this unexpected moment, aware that I did not foresee it exactly as it seems to be. Perhaps the function of this day of personal celebration is to awaken again to the world as it is. To look around and see if this is a point of departure for a course adjustment based on my perception of the freshened choices presented by this particular rising of the sun. Can I come out and play? Yes today I can and will.

The Farm 2008

In 1973 I went to The Farm. This visit in 2008 was like old home week, except it was new home week.
